The Fire of God Fell

During the early 1730's, the young Colonies were experiencing an absence of spiritual power and influence. Although there were short periods of revival from time to time, nothing was truly long-lasting. In 1740, Rev. Jonathan Edwards asked the Rev. George Whitefield to come and preach at his church in Northampton, Massachusetts. It was documented by over 160 pastors in the surrounding churches that the Spirit of God moved so mightily in those meetings that many souls were genuinely converted. The churches throughout New England experienced a true revival which lasted until 1756.This revival became known as "The Great Awakening!" It had an undeniable impact on the lives of tens of thousands of people and tremendously influenced the American Revolution of 1776!
